If you want to repalce the HTML rather than the text content, you can always use the replaceWith() function:

var newContnet = '<h1>My Title</h2> My con<imgsrc="myimage.jpg">en<imgsrc="myimage.jpg">';

$( ".myClass" ).replaceWith(newContent);

And here is a super-simple example:
